Preparation for our first guests!

I have spent the last few weeks in a panic preparing for our first guests. I wanted everything to be perfect, so many new furniture pieces and decorative items have been added to give a more finished look. I hit the antique shops in Jefferson, shopped my own home, and tried to pull everything together. Here is the updated version of some of the rooms:
This is one of our guest rooms: Mollie's Room with private adjoining bath.

This is the second bedroom: Bessie's Room. It was named after the original owner.

The adjoining bath has a new shower.

Coffee bar, microwave, & refrigerator for guests:

The common area for guest to relax or watch TV.

Now, on to the kitchen:

I bought a new hall tree for the living room.

That's all for now. Our website rock. cottage.net will be available for booking online soon.
Thanks for looking......Kathy

New coffee table & lamps

I have added the final touches to the den of the Rock Cottage B & B. This is a large room for guests to watch TV, visit, or use our wireless internet.

Here is a floral arrangement put together by my friend & former co-worker of 10 years at Doris McQueen Elementary in Longview, Texas. Claudette Bennett is a retired Librarian. Thanks Claudette, I love the arrangement!

Maybe one day soon I'll sleep in the Master bedroom. That is if the ghost in the house stops coming in and out of the kitchen door.  Seriously! My mom & co-owner thinks that the ghost is Bessie, the former owner of the 1934 home. We are only the second owners. I hope Bessie approves of the renovations!

I changed the platter over the mantle to a blue & white Staffordshire one that I've had since 1973.

Mollie likes to check out the dogs & cats in the neighborhood.

I'll be at the rock cottage today waiting on the delivery of this Victorian sofa.

I'd love to show y'all around. The Rock Cottage was recently visited by a woman in charge of the Candlelight tour in Jefferson for possible tours during Christmas 2013! I would love to decorate the place for Christmas! Yay! I'm really excited about that. She said a rock house has never been shown. Thanks for stopping by!

Updated pictures

Part 3 is almost complete! Yes, we are finally ready for business after 1 year of renovations & 3 different contractors. Our last phase has included an additional central heat/air unit (because one wasn't enough to cool the house in 107 degree Texas heat), a custom sign for our B & B,  shades & blinds in all the windows, insulation, a mini-kitchen for guests, and more furniture & art. Here are a few pics:
Come on in.....

We have new shades in the living room, and I changed the chairs from yellow & blue toile to these white ones, that I moved from my other home.

Shabby Chic Dining room complete with Rachael Ashwell dining table.

I've added a few touches to the Master Bedroom, including the yellow chairs from the living room.

New additions are shades behind the lace curtains, a chalk dog from the state fair in the 50's (on the vanity), and my old pointe shoes hanging on the bed. I also added white chandelier shades.

My mom & co-owner, Sis Owens, is relaxing with Sugar in the den. The coffee table & lamps will arrive in 2 days, and then the  room will be complete. This room has a flatscreen TV & plenty of room to relax & enjoy the laid-back lifestyle in Jefferson. The rock wall adds a rustic touch, and the sofas are super comfy.

 Blue guest room.

And adjoining bath.

That's all for now. Please like my Facebook page & join my blog at the top of the page. Thanks, Kathy
