About The Rock Cottage

The original owners of the 1934 Rock Cottage were Bessie and Russell Davis. Jessie grew up on a farm outside of Jefferson, and she ran a "Beauty Shop" in the house. Russell ran a diner inside of an old caboose on the same property next to the house.

Kathy Duvall and her mother, Sis Owens, are the second owners of the house. The rock house was constructed of native iron ore rock found in the area. Restoration on the house took one year. The house had been untouched since 1934 and had to be completely restored from the ground up, including a new roof, electrical, plumbing, paint, sheet rock, central air, lighting, flooring, and more.

Beautiful pine floors are throughout the home, in almost every room. Every effort was taken to restore the originality of the house. Some of the furnishings in the Rock Cottage belonged to the original owners, including a piano, sofa, chairs, lamps, pictures, dressers, armoire, tables, and more.
