Pink Christmas!

I'm doing something a little different on the blog today, and I'm posting some photos of the home that I live in. I really didn't do much decorating for Christmas at the Rock Cottage, but as you can see I have decked the halls here. LOL. My theme for this year is a Pink Christmas. Pink is my favorite color, and I like the way pink makes me feel. So here goes........
The garland above the front door was hung by Dale Vaughn of A Flower Affair in Jefferson, Texas. I chose the regular & green burlap ribbon, along with a green plaid that gives a French Country look. I would have chosen pink, but Ellis Pottery didn't have any pink burlap. LOL. So I went with the green.

As you come in the front door, the paper tree has a vintage look, and was given to me by my late father, Carl Owens,  around 20 years ago. I love it! My father was always really into Christmas, and it reminds me of him each year when I take it out.

Next, the dining room features a white table from the Rachael Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture collection. The Darcy cane French chairs are also Rachael Ashwell, as is the chandelier. The teacart belonged to my Grandmother, Florence Felker. My mother, Sis Owens, gave me the Desert Rose pottery for my birthday this year, and her wedding china on the table has pink roses which I love.

The tree in the foreground was formerly a dark red. I spray painted it white, and it turned a beautiful sugar plum color!

Next, we'll go to the living room....
The white armoire was shipped all the way from California. The black baby grand was purchased by my parents in the 50's. I have decorated with both high end & low end objects.  I have the Nate Berkus for Target black & white urns and sea urchin,  Missoni for Target tray and media box, Neiman Marcus for Target black tray with shaker & high ball glasses, mixed with a real Missoni throw on sofa.

The angry elf sitting in the chair is my husband getting the bill for the decorations!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! xoxo kathy

New Business Cards & Rack Cards for the Rock Cottage

I'm always asked for a business card, and now I have finally them. Jessica and Joe from Right On! Graphics in Jefferson, Texas designed these for us. I think that they did a great job. The cards are two-sided, and they have pictures showing a couple of the rooms in the Rock Cottage. Here is a pic:

What do you think? I think they captured the atmosphere of our 1934 Rock Cottage. I found out some interesting facts this week about the original owners of the Rock Cottage. Their names were Bessie and Russell Davis. Bessie grew up  on a farm near Jefferson, and she had a twin sister named Jessie. Bessie had a Beauty Shop located inside the home. When we were renovating the home, we found old antique metal curling rods, I suppose for giving permanent waves. LOL. Are you old enough, like me, to remember getting a permanent? Her husband, Russell Davis, ran a diner in an old railroad car in the large yard to the right of the house. I wondered why the yard was so big, and now I know why. I hope Bessie approves of the restoration of her home. I wouldn't want her ghost to pay me a visit one night. I'd have to call the Long Island Medium or maybe Ghost Busters. Seriously!

Next we have new rack cards, also designed by Right On! Graphics:

We will be open during the week of Thanksgiving with a 2 night minimum during Nov. 20-24 if anyone needs a large place to stay. We have approximately 2,800 square feet, and we can rent all or parts of the house with up to 9 guests! There are 2 separate living area with flatscreen TV's, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, and more. You may call (903) 806-0436 for reservations. Thank you! Kathy & Sis

This is my favorite room! The Belle Room has Apache Belle pictures, hats, boots, and items from when I was an Apache Belle in 1970, and 40 years later when my daughter, MK, joined the group. My sister, Tracy Torma, was also an Apache Belle, but she hasn't given me any photos for the room. LOL.

These 3 rooms will accommodate 5 adults. Guests may rent one or all rooms.

The next suite is Florence's Suite, named after my grandmother. This suite has a parlor with a velvet leopard print Victorian sofa, bath with red claw foot tub, bedroom, and kitchen. This suite is totally private, without any shared common areas. Pictured is a full bed, but I am replacing this bed with a Queen as soon as I can, hopefully within the next 2 weeks.
